Consumer Guide: Worry About Your Watch Details

A glance at the wristwatch to see the current time is still quicker than looking at the mobile phone, which first has to be taken out of the pocket and for which the key lock also has to be unlocked. In addition, wristwatches have the advantage that their battery lasts much longer than a cell phone battery. Apart from that, a good wristwatch also looks chic and is considered one of the most reliable. With the following essential tips, bad purchases can be avoided entirely.

Worrying About Watch Details

Every conventional wristwatch shows the time at least once. But beyond that, every watch is different. Before buying a watch, you should consider which details are essential to you.

The Functions Of The Clock

In addition to displaying the time, many watches as seen on pendulum have additional functions. Everyone has to decide whether a stop function is enough for them or whether they prefer other features. Possible functions can be, for example:

The Watch Case

There are, of course, also serious differences in terms of the materials and the look of the watch. The watch case, for example, should be stable, at least to a certain extent. It can also be waterproof and dustproof. The following materials are possible: plastic, stainless steel, ceramics, titanium, carbon, silver, yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or platinum.

The Watch Glass

A good rule of thumb when it comes to watching glass that everyone should remember is that the less visible the glass, the better. Of course, this also means that good glasses are less prone to scratches because scratches and signs of wear that become visible on the watch glass over time can be highly annoying.

Common materials for watches are sapphire glass, mineral, plastic, or plexiglass. Sapphire crystal is the most durable transparent material after diamond. However, it should be anti-reflective so that the surface does not reflect too much.

The Watch Straps

Watch straps are made of rubber, leather, or metal. The material of the supplied bracelet says nothing about the quality of the watch. Even a “Richard Mille” that costs several thousand euros comes with a very inexpensive rubber strap. However, the different bracelets have their advantages and disadvantages. Leather bracelets offer first-class wearing comfort and look particularly elegant and often filigree. They are particularly suitable for smaller wrists. However, they wear out comparatively quickly and are not as waterproof as the competition.

Rubber bracelets also offer a good wearing comfort and longer durability than leather bracelets. However, saltwater affects them more. Despite everything, rubber straps on diving watches are popular. Using it should not be a problem if the bracelet is rinsed and dried well after the dive.

Finally, metal straps are the most durable of all watch straps. However, many metal bracelets become looser over time. It is essential to take good care of metal bracelets by occasionally cleaning them with warm water and a toothbrush. This removes dead skin cells and sweat.
